It’s that time of the year again. New year, new resolution and new me. Some might disagree with me by saying that we shouldn’t wait until new year to make a new resolution. Additionally, we don’t celebrate new year!
Yes I understand. In any shape of form I don’t actually encourage anyone to celebrate nor recommend it either. But I think there is no harm to always reflect and plan new things at the end of the year. It’s not part of celebration but it’s just part of planning for the new beginning. Some might do it after Ramadan, or when they reach certain ages, or when they move to a new place. Yes!! The point is clear...that reflection must be done regularly. There is a famous report from ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that speaks of it:
.
Take stock of yourselves before you are brought to account; weigh yourselves before you are weighed, for that will make the Reckoning easier for you tomorrow, if you take stock of yourselves today and prepare yourselves for the great presentation on the Day when you will be be brought to Judgement, and not a secret of yours will be hidden.
.
If every seconds matter then every year passing is even more crucial. January is just around the corner, it’s time to look back and see what blessing we have obtained?
How have we utilised it?
What good things need to be maintained?
.
For some reasons I am always drawn to topic of self-help, self-growth, psychology, human mind and all other abstract subjects. It is just fascinating. I reckon it’s because I have been involved in a the da’wah for number of years where we have a vision to change the world by changing their thoughts and emotions. Hence it’s now become my passion to learn anything related to how human brains and emotion works.
.
Just like the following questionnaire. It might not directly link to the big change we envisioned but reflection like this is surely the first step towards a change.
.
Hope it helps us to reflect and grow as a person
