Art dadakan

Inilah salah satu hasilnya ماشاء الله  Menurut Nusaybah ini adalah “picture of a city with tall buildings”

{Percakapan} marriage

On one afternoon my Rumaysa 5 years old was curious about the topic of marriage (God knows why!) Rumaysa:” mama, why do you marry baba?” While preparing dinner I answered casually:”because he’s a good man, very responsible and most importantly he is a good Muslim ماشاء الله “ And I forgot to mention the important part that he’s not my relative 😃 Rumaysa:”oh.... so can I marry Hudayfah when I grow up?” Me:”no you can’t, because he’s your brother” R:”so who can I marry then?” Me:”anyone else that is not blood related to you, someone you might never meet before, a stranger” R:”a strangeeeeeeer??!!” (I wrote that way because she was really shocked lol) But mama you told us not to even talk to a stranger how can I marry a stranger then??? *facepalm* LESSON: 1. It’s so obvious I wasn’t prepared with the answer of such question! but it’s okay because parenting is also a learning process for everyone. 2. Choose the right words and expression to explain a “grown up” su

Chat again

One evening as I was busy attending my cranky Hudayfah, my eldest said: "Mama, I think I am going to skip being a parent, I will be straight to become a grandparent! " I was holding myself not to laugh and ask:"why do you want to skip?" Nusaybah:"because I can see how hard looking after baby and children is.."  I think she saw me that evening trying to catch up my breath and constantly on my toes due to her brother. I then said: "to be a grandparent, you first have to have a child or children, and those children get married and then they will have children then you can become grandparent, so if one day you got married and have children then me and baba will be grandparents." "Oh... but I just want to be a grandparent without being a parent." LESSON LEARNED! As hard as it could possibly be...just pretend to always be in control and in your coolest mode in front of your kids! Because you are building an image and setting example of how mo

My Monday

Monday morning 24th April 2017 at 8:30am ---- Rumaysa started it with a very random statement. "Mama, when you die, I will walk to wiam's house (my next door neighbour) by myself!" In my shock (because it's just bizzare topic to be brought up in the early Monday morning plus we haven't discussed anything related to death whatsoever) So I asked:"why?" (TBH I don't know what else shall I say) She said:" because you won't be there anymore" (I said to myself: yes, it makes sense but why this discussion?? And why now???) Then I prompted another question:"But why would you go to wiam's house?" She said: "So that I can play with her." Bless her, She just want to play!  I then asked: "But who's going to look after you when I die? She said:"Wiam's Mom!" I replied "But she's not your mom, she's wiam's Mom" And then she was quiet for a while and change the topic and said:"I

13 years

It's been a memorable 13 years and I pray there will be plenty more years to come! Amin Navigating through marriage life indeed teaches me so many things. You discover your qualities and skills you never knew it was existing, you learn to take and give, you learn to tolerate, accept the differences, encourage one another to do good, overlook the shortcomings, learn to forgive, learn to find the best time to speak, learn to speak with wisdom, learn to understand each other's point of view. I always believe that Allah ﷻ grants us a spouse to complete us and learn from one another and meet somewhere in the middle. I often find spouse possess opposite character. Extrovert and introvert, ahead planner and last minute one, outgoing and indoor person.  My philosophy is: being married is like being a pair of slipper. If your spouse is the right slipper then be the left one (of course this doesn't imply any negative connotation) - what I mean is: complement each other and never expe

Meaningful conversation with Rumaysa

I have this habit asking the girls question:"what's the best thing happened in school today?" Or "did you have a good day today?"And they would answer it by picking up one of the thing that happened in school. What surprised me was, few days ago as we drove to pick Nusaybah from her school, my four years old daughter asked me,  "Mama, did you have a good day today at home"?" I smiled and felt so special that she wanted to know how my day was. I then teased her and said:"well... it depends, how do you define good day for mama at home? what makes a day is good for mama if I just stay at home?, I don't go and meet my friends, I can't go to the slide and play in the playground like you?" Her answered astonished me and put things back into perspective: "But mama, you have time to play with adek Hudayfah, you can rest while he's sleeping, that's relaxing and that's a good day" I had to admit that she was correct

My jannah

My JANNAH by Nusaybah Khalifa (7 yo)12 feb 2017 In Jannah I want a toy flower that is magic. now what I mean by magic is that if you push down one petal it would go all dark but then the flower will light up. If you pressed or push down, it would write down on a piece of paper a funny joke that would make you laugh The second thing I want in Jannah is a castle or a house made out of a cupcakes, sweets, candy, lollipops and ice cream. so whenever I am hungry I have something to eat, but if I finish the castle or house I will ask Allah ﷻ to give me another one. The third thing I want in Jannah is a rainbow palace. Now you might be thinking my rainbow palace is a palace that is rainbow but it is not. it is a palace shaped like a rainbow. The fourth thing I want in Jannah is cookie castle. everyday my friends would come over to have a sleep over. now I might not have enough beds for all of my friends but the flower I was talking about before would make lots of beds. Every middle of the ni
